After months of public speculation, Ashanti, the princess of R&B, announced her pregnancy via an Instagram post.

The Instagram post included the singer getting ready for a concert with her mother rushing her and asking if she needed more time. To which Ashanti replied, "Yeah, about nine months."

The pregnancy announcement comes on the heels of Nelly and Ashanti rekindling their relationship last fall. Just a few weeks ago, Ashanti's mom, Tina Douglas, quelled even more speculation after being asked if her daughter was pregnant.

“Congratulations, Ashanti’s having a baby. So congratulations, grandma,” said her mom, via a post on The Shade Room.

“There’s been no announcement. It hasn’t come out yet until I hear it from Ashanti and Nelly," Douglas responded .

“Oh, I thought it was public. My bad, sorry,” the host replied.

“No, it is public," said Douglas. "Don’t get it twisted, but it hasn’t been officially announced.”
