NBA YoungBoy Arrested In Utah For Gun Possession

The 24-year-old rapper is facing six charges including possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person.

NBA YoungBoy was arrested for gun possession in Utah after a raid was executed by local and federal enforcement, Variety reports.

YoungBoy, whose real name is Kentrell DeSean Gaulden is currently facing six charges including “possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person”  and a “pattern of unlawful activity” which are both Class 2 felony charges. 

He’s also charged with procuring or attempting to procure prescription drugs, identity fraud, forgery, and possession of other controlled substances.

According to police records, NBA YoungBoy was taken into custody by the Cache County Sheriff’s Office at 2:50 p.m. on April 16.

"This search warrant is a piece of an ongoing investigation into criminal conduct," a statement from the Cache County Sheriff's Office read. "Due to the complexity of the investigation, we will not be releasing any additional details concerning the investigation."

He is being held without bail.

NBA YoungBoy is no stranger to having run-ins with the law. At the time of his arrest, NBA YoungBoy was serving a house arrest sentence in Utah after he pleaded guilty to an aggravated assault charge in 2017 for a 2016 shooting in Baton Rouge. Two counts of attempted first-degree murder that he was initially charged were eventually dropped.

In 2020, YoungBoy and 15 others were arrested following a police search that found several firearms and large quantities of drugs at a location for a video shoot in Baton Rouge.

If found guilty, YoungBoy could be sentenced to 15 years in prison.
